Every Sunday morning, a rotating group of shopkeepers, teachers and retired guides shows visitors the neighbourhood they grew up in.

The walk starts at 6:30 a.m., before the traffic and the heat.
There is no fixed route. Whoever is leading that Sunday takes the group where their own memory takes them — a courtyard, a specific bakery, a corner shrine.
"Guidebook Lucknow is fine," one leader said. "But this is the Lucknow we actually live in."
